This blanket is woven to order and made into a finished product. Just before shipping, they are washed with water from the foot of Mt.Fuji.

このブランケットは注文を受けてから布を織り、製品になります。出荷の直前には、富士山麓の水で綺麗に洗い、フレッシュな状態でお手元にお届けいたします。

 The checkered pattern, which is woven into fabric using a jacquard technique, is also called ”ichimatu" or "ishidatami" in Japanese, and is one of the most familiar patterns in the world, used by various countries.

布にジャカード織りで織り込まれたチェック柄は、日本では市松文様、又は石畳文様とも呼ばれ、様々な国や民族で使われている世界中で最も親しまれている柄の一つです。

Kakishibu-dyed blanket with a smooth feel

This blanket is made of 100% natural materials, with plant fibers that are gentle to the skin dyed with a natural dye, which is called kakisibu dyeing made of persimmon tannin. Each strand of linen and cotton threads, which are natural fibers, is dyed in the beautiful colors of persimmon tannin, and in the process, they are nurtured to a smooth texture that is unique to kakishibu dyeing. Blankets woven with such yarns do not cling to the body even when sweaty, and feel smooth to the touch. Incidentally, the smoothness is stronger than that of indigo-dyed blankets.

サラっと感が特徴の柿渋染ブランケット

素肌に優しい植物繊維を天然染料の柿渋で染めて作った自然素材100％のブランケットです。全身をすっぽり覆える大判サイズとなっています。そのため、ベッドカバーとしてもお使いいただけます。天然繊維であるリネンとコットンの糸の一本一本は、柿渋の美しい色に染め上げられる過程で、柿渋染ならではのサラサラとした風合いの糸へと育まれます。そのような糸で織られたブランケットは汗ばんでも身体にまとわりずらく、サラッとした肌触りになります。ちなみに、サラッと感は藍染のものよりも強くなります。

The checkered pattern is surrounded by the waffle double weaving. Air between two of its layers makes  the cloth gentle to the bare skin with good moisture retention each properties.

市松模様の周りを柔らかなワッフル織の二重織りにしています。そうすることで、空気の層が生まれ、素肌に優しい保湿性の良い布になります。

It can be used as a bedspread like an interior fabric. On the other hand, linen has excellent water absorbency and quick-drying properties, so it can also be used as flat sheets. 

ベッドカバーのようにインテリアファブリックとしてお使いいただけます。一方、リネンは吸水性や速乾性に優れているので、タオルケットとしてもお使いいただけます。

As a bedspread

 It is large enough to be used as a bedspread, and also reversible. One side has kakishibu-dyed threads woven into the surface, the other side has white linen and cotton thread.

About Kakishibu dyeing

Traditional Japanese persimmon tannin dyeing ( kakishibu-dyeing ) is a natural dye made by fermenting the juice of astringent persimmons. The yarn is soaked in this solution, dyed, washed, and dried, and then carefully repeated over and over again to achieve the beautiful persimmon color. The main ingredient of the color is persimmon tannin. This persimmon tannin reacts with various components to produce a darker color. On the other hand, it is also decomposed by light and heat, resulting in a lighter color. In other words, when persimmon tannin is washed for the first time in daily life, it reacts with water and detergents, resulting in a darkening of the color. After repeated washing and drying, at some point, the color begins to fade (lightening). The Japanese have long enjoyed this transition of color. The fading and changing of colors is quite natural and is a proof of the use of natural materials.

Kakishibu dyeing, with these characteristics, does not cause color migration, and there is no need to worry about staining other clothes when washing. It is also  durable against friction. Kakishibu dyeing is attracting attention as an environmentally friendly dyeing method.

色の変化を楽しむ

日本伝統の柿渋染めは渋柿の果汁を発酵させた天然染料です。この液に糸を浸し、染色⇒水洗い⇒乾燥、を何度も何度も丁寧に繰り返して美しい柿色に染め上げます。色の主成分は柿タンニンです。この柿タンニンは、様々な成分と反応することで濃色化する性質があります。その一方で、光や熱等によって分解されるので、淡色化する性質もあります。つまり、日常生活のにおいて初めて洗濯した時には、柿タンニンは水や洗剤に含まれる成分に反応して濃く（濃色化）なります。その後洗濯と乾燥を繰り返し行うと、ある時点からは一転して色あせ（淡色化）が始まります。このような色の移ろい自体を昔から日本人は楽しんできました。色があせたり、変わったりするのは、ごく自然のことで、天然素材を使っている証しでもあります。

このような特徴を持つ柿渋染めは色移りすることは無く、お洗濯等で他の衣類を汚す心配はありません。また、摩擦に強くて丈夫です。環境に優しい染色として注目されています。
