Each piece is carefully hand-dyed to a persimmon tannin brown, making it a one-of-a-kind color.

This convenient bag is perfect for everyday use and can easily fit an A4-sized file. Persimmon tannin dyeing is a natural dye made from fermented persimmon tannins. In the past, it was used to paint fishing nets and Japanese umbrellas. The coating that forms on the surface strengthens the material.

This is a durable bag made entirely from natural materials.

Note: The dye is actually made by fermenting green persimmon juice.

Enjoy the changing colors of persimmon tannin dyeing

Traditional Japanese persimmon tannin dyeing is a natural dye made from fermented persimmon juice. Threads are soaked in this liquid, then dyed, washed, and dried, carefully and repeatedly until they achieve a beautiful persimmon hue. The main component of the color is persimmon tannin. This persimmon tannin has the property of darkening colors by reacting with various other components. However, it also has the property of lightening colors as it breaks down in light and heat. In other words, when you wash an item for the first time, the persimmon tannin reacts with the components in the water and detergent to darken the color. After that, with repeated washing and drying, the color will begin to fade (lighten). Japanese people have long enjoyed this process of color change. This fading and change in color is completely natural and is a sign that natural materials are used.

With these characteristics, persimmon tannin dyeing does not transfer color, so there is no need to worry about staining other clothes when washing. It is also resistant to friction and durable. It is attracting attention as an environmentally friendly dyeing method.

Note: Comparison using our own fabric

The fabric used is dyed using a jacquard loom to create a hemp leaf pattern. It is then over-dyed with persimmon tannin to create a unique color. This bag is extremely time-consuming to make.

There is one pocket on the inside.

Linen is also easy to care for as it can be washed in a home washing machine.
