Woven in Japan, linen for Japanese lifestyles
Tenjin Factory is a rare linen-specializing factory located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
In this place with a history of silk weaving, we have been cherishing the charm of the wonderful natural material called linen for ** years.
We continue to carefully weave fabric on old shuttle looms.

Recommendations for the season
We have a selection of items perfect for this time of year, including blankets that are useful as the seasons change and quick-drying towels.
You may not be familiar with linen, but it is the perfect material for towels. It absorbs water quickly and dries quickly. It is a material that is very suitable for Japanese life. At Tenjin Factory, we combine weaving methods and materials to create new linen towels.

At Tenjin Factory, we weave fabric from yarn to create products. Although we are a small factory, we discover the charm of linen every day and are constantly coming up with new weaving and dyeing methods. This is a corner where we share the latest products and experiments from our factory.

Linen and dyeing
After much trial and error to find a way to create a natural coloring that would still retain the original texture, we decided to try using persimmon tannin, a material cultivated in Japan since ancient times. The result is an apron that is not only beautiful brown, but also has the appealing quiet elasticity of persimmon tannin.

Linen that carries the name of the region
Although linen originally came from Europe, we want to create linen that is suited to Japanese lifestyles. As one example, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, where Tenjin Factory is located, is a textile production area that has been around since the Edo period. Taking its name, Gunnai, we created a chic striped linen called Gunnai Striped Linen.

To the fullest
This beautiful grey dye is made by boiling flax stalks, which are then turned into ash after the linen fibre has been extracted. We are grateful to be able to make the most of the bounty of nature, and we plan to gradually increase our range of ash-dyed products, such as scarves and towels.
