Linen Pajamas for a Restful Night’s Sleep
When it comes to sleep, we naturally want to minimize stress on the body. Linen pajamas are ideal for this, as the fabric feels light and dry against the skin without clinging to the body.
This is thanks to the combination of linen’s excellent breathability and its natural ability to absorb moisture and dry quickly. The slight spaces between the fibers allow air to circulate freely, while linen quickly draws sweat away from the skin and releases moisture. This helps prevent the fabric from sticking to the skin, keeping you feeling fresh and comfortable throughout the night.
This is why linen is such a wonderful choice for sleepwear, especially during the warmer months.

What Is Linen
Linen is one of the oldest natural fibers, used since ancient times. It is made from fibers extracted from the stalk of the flax plant. As flax is mainly cultivated in the cooler climates of Europe, linen fibers tend to be softer compared to other plant-based fibers such as hemp or ramie.
This natural softness gives linen its gentle touch, making it comfortable against the skin without any prickly feeling.
Flax Fields
Fibers have a hollow structure that provides heat retention and moisture retention, so when we wear them, they act as a reliable barrier between our body temperature and the outside temperature, protecting us.

Flax fibers
When these fibers are bundled together and made into thread, it becomes linen. Incidentally, the name linen seems to apply to this thread, the cloth woven from it, and all products made from that cloth.
Linen: Ideal for Clothing in the Warmer Months
Linen is made from the fibers found inside the stems of the flax plant. These inner fibers, known as bast fibers, act much like a natural reinforcement, helping the plant’s stems resist bending and breaking. This gives linen its naturally flexible and resilient structure.
That flexibility remains even after the fibers are woven into fabric, contributing to linen’s light, airy feel and its ability to stay comfortably away from the skin rather than clinging to it. It can feel almost as though the skin is free to breathe, without the fabric placing any unnecessary burden on it, allowing the body to relax more naturally.
This is one of the reasons linen pajamas can help create a comfortable environment for restful sleep, making linen an especially wonderful choice for the warmer months.
Traditional Craftsmanship
Flax fibers are fine, smooth, and naturally soft. However, during spinning, twist must be added to create strength, which can make the yarn firmer. When woven under tension on modern looms, much of the fiber’s original softness can be lost.
By contrast, traditional shuttle looms place far less stress on the yarn. This allows the fabric to retain more of its natural softness and texture. A hallmark of this method is the “selvedge”—the clean, finished edge visible along both sides of the fabric. Linen woven in this way is often referred to as selvedge linen.
The result is a fabric that feels gently textured, airy, and full of life.

Selvedge linen woven at TENJIN-factory

Old-fashioned shuttle loom
Our Philosophy at Tenjin Factory
Our linen fabrics are made using linen yarn spun from high-quality European flax. We weave the yarn slowly and gently on traditional shuttle looms, creating a fabric with a soft, natural texture.
One of the most distinctive qualities of this traditionally woven linen is that it becomes softer and more supple with every wash and every use.
These pajamas are no exception. With repeated wear, the fabric gradually develops a texture that is quite different from the feel it had when you first touched it. As the linen softens and develops its own character, wearing the pajamas becomes something to look forward to at bedtime. The gentle, well-loved texture helps you feel comfortable and at ease, allowing the tension in your body to relax and encouraging restful sleep.
We also take great care with the sewing, which is done in our own workshop. We use generous amounts of fabric and carefully construct each piece so that seams and folded edges do not create unnecessary pressure or irritation against the body. For the same reason, we have chosen a button-free design. We hope you will experience the comfort of these pajamas for yourself, especially during the warmer months.
A button-free neckline for greater comfort
Because we are using a natural material that comes from a plant, we wanted to keep the fabric as close to its natural state as possible. We therefore do not use any chemical treatments or fabric softeners. The finished fabric is simply washed in lukewarm water, without the use of fabric softener.
This is how our linen pajamas are made—with careful attention to the fabric, the weaving, and every detail of the construction. Our hope is that wearing them will help you sleep peacefully and comfortably, so that you can enjoy each day in good physical and mental well-being.

The neckline is designed without buttons for a clean and comfortable finish.
