Hemp charcoal dyed salon apron

A salon apron dyed with hemp charcoal.

It is a shoulder-style apron, so it does not put strain on your neck. It has two pockets on the left and right.

Each piece is carefully hand-dyed. The resulting color is a clean, light charcoal color. The color fluctuations that can only be achieved by hand dyeing are one of a kind.

Hemp charcoal, as it's also called, is made from hemp. Hemp has been known in Japan since ancient times as hemp (onusa). Its refined fiber, in particular, symbolizes "purity" due to its lustrous golden appearance, making it an essential part of religious ceremonies. The vigorous growth of this plant, which grows straight toward the sky in a short space of time, has inspired Japanese people to associate it with a powerful life force. The seeds are edible, and the outer layer of the stem, called oaka, is used as compost, paper, and clay walls. The remaining portion of the stem, after the plaque and core are removed, is called refined hemp and is used for clothing and rope. The core, called stalk, is burned to become hemp charcoal. This hemp-dyed linen gauze stole is dyed with hemp charcoal powder, resulting in a clean, silver-gray finish.

The fabric used is selvedge linen with selvedge edges woven on a traditional shuttle loom. The gauze weave allows air to enter the fabric, resulting in a fluffy finish. The linen material is made from high-quality European flax. This is a stole that you will want to use for a long time.

Linen is also easy to care for as it can be washed in a home washing machine.

How to care for hemp charcoal dyed products

1. Laundry

Please wash in a way that does not cause friction. Hand washing is recommended, but if you use a washing machine, be sure to put it in a laundry net and wash it alone.

2. Detergent

Please use a neutral detergent . Avoid using detergents containing bleach or fluorescent brighteners. Also, avoid using fabric softener.
