Linen, a material that brings a good night's sleep
We normally work on making linen fabric. We also use it to create a variety of items that we use on a daily basis. One thing we felt was that linen might be a material that would help us sleep better. First of all, it's a good match for the skin. It doesn't have the itchy feeling that linen often has. It's also dry, so it doesn't get sticky even when you sweat. And that's how Ten Factory's linen pajamas were born.

Characteristics of linen
Linen is one of the natural fibers that has been used since ancient times. It is made from fibers extracted from the stems of a plant called flax. As it is widely cultivated in Europe, it is suited to relatively cool climates, and its fibers are characterized by being softer than other plant fibers such as hemp and ramie. This makes it a fabric that is gentle on the skin and not itchy.

Flax field
Fibers have a hollow structure that provides heat retention and moisture retention, so when we wear them, they act as a reliable barrier between our body temperature and the outside temperature, protecting us.

Flax fibers
When these fibers are bundled together and made into thread, it becomes linen. Incidentally, the name linen seems to apply to this thread, the cloth woven from it, and all products made from that cloth.
Traditional selvedge fabric that is gentle on the fabric
Flax fibers are characterized by their delicate, smooth, and soft texture. When spun, they must be twisted, which makes the thread stronger, but also naturally stiffer. Furthermore, when the thread is pulled while being woven on a loom, no trace of the original soft fibers remains in the finished cloth. However, by weaving on an old-fashioned shuttle loom, it is possible to create cloth with minimal stress on the thread. And the proof that it was woven on that loom is the part called the "selvedge." In English, this is the tape-like part you can see on both ends of the cloth. Linen woven in this way is called selvedge linen.

Fabric production without dyes and fabric softeners
Since we are using natural materials such as plants, we didn't want to use any chemical treatments on the fabric, so we finished by simply washing it in lukewarm water without using any fabric softener.
We hope that you will sleep well in our linen pajamas, which are made in this way, and that you will stay healthy both physically and mentally.
